Don’t Miss the Velvet Goddess Scrunchie Pattern: It’s FREE on the Blog!

Are you looking for something quick and easy to hook up for last minute gifts? Scrunchies for girls, teens, and women are super fun, fashionable, and when given in a set of 3, make for a fabulous stocking stuffer gift!

My Velvet Goddess Scrunchy pattern:

  • Hooks up in 15 minutes or less
  • Beginner friendly
  • Fun & Fashionable!

What You Need

Tools
  • About 25 yards of bulky 5 velvet or chenille yarn. I used Premier Yarns Parfait.
  • 6mm hook (I love my Furls Odyssey hook!)
  • Pony tail holder
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • long hair…or someone with long hair 🙂

Pattern Notes

  • Gauge: not important!
  • Scrunchie is worked in the round
  • Ch 2 at the start of round 2 does NOT count as a stitch

Stitch Abbreviations & Instructions

  • CH – chain 
  • DC – double crochet – YO, insert hook into next stitch, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through last two loops. 
  • FPDC – front post double crochet – YO, insert hook into the back of the dc post. The dc post is now on hook. YO, pull through post loop, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through last two loops. SLST- slip stitch 
  • ST-stitch 
  • YO – Yarn over

Pattern Instructions

  • Fasten on yarn and then fasten to pony tail holder
  • Round 1: 26 DC around pony tail holder. If you need to add DC’s to completely cover pony tail holder. Join. Ch 2.
  • Round 2: *5 FPDC in first stitch. 3 FPDC in next stitch.* Repeat this pattern from * to * all the way around. Join. Fasten off, weave in ends. Velvet Goddess Scrunchie made!
